How to make Designer Pillows

Do you know how much a good quality sheet set costs? That is surely going to cost more than you would expect. Its price is not less than the money an average man earns working half a week. I guess you too must have noticed that these sheets are nothing without their matching pillow cases? And in order to get these matching pillow cases, we are going to need some more of these sheets, which obviously means, spending some more money. In our time, I don’t think we can afford to waste our money. Unquestionably, the key of our survival is being easy on the pocket.

This writing is all about making designer pillows without spending much of your money. I am sure it is going to be beneficial for you. In the first place, this doesn’t make any sense to me why to pay so much for them when you can make them at your home without any problem? If you ask me, that is one of the easiest things of what I can make by myself. This is not going to need a pattern so this saves your money right away. Roughly, this will save like 5 to 16 dollars.

Tips – How to Sew a Case

The sides of old sheet wares are normally in better condition, and can surely be used in making many other things. Don’t you think these sides and ends can be used in making a nice pair of cases?

Buy a single sheet in the contrasting or same color rather than buying extra packs of the cases whenever you go buy a new set of sheets from the market. If you ask me, I think four pillow cases can be made from one single sheet.

Don’t forget to check clearance sales! There is a high probability that you will find a big variety of flat sheets having no mating fitted sheets in these clearance bins. You can definitely use them to make some perfect pillow cases.

What do you think of presenting your own made designer pillows to your friends as gifts? Don’t you think these handmade gifts are something ideal to gift on occasions like housewarming and weddings? You don’t have to spend much money or put some effort in making these cases.

Sizes of Finished Cases

- Standard 21 inches x 32 inches
- Queen 21 inches x 36 inches
- King 21 inches x 42 inches

Instructions to make these Pillow Cases

First decide a size and then cut the fabric 6 inches longer and 1 inch wider than the size you desire to make. Cutting a piece of 27 inches x 38 inches will be okay if you want to make a standard size case. Now press the bottom after turning it up ¼ inches and then turn up a 5-¾ inches hem, and sew.

If you have got a sewing machine that overcasts the raw edges of a fabric with a V-shaped stitch, that will make the work even easier. You can use it to sew up the side and across the top of the pillow case. If you don’t have it, you can still keep it from raveling by using a straight stitch and then zigzag along the edge. Press it after turning the right side out.
